A Leader Worth Following™ – About the Author

Mike Easley’s remarkable career journey reflects a lifetime commitment to learning, leading, and fostering growth in others. At 63, humorously referring to himself as the “world’s oldest intern,” Mike’s vibrant path has woven through various states – including Oklahoma, Alaska, Michigan, and Wyoming – during an extensive 40-year tenure in the electric cooperative industry.

Armed with a BS in Electrical Engineering and an MBA from the Ken Blanchard School of Business at Grand Canyon University, Mike’s academic pursuits underscore his belief in lifelong learning. His leadership role spanning over two decades at Powder River Energy Corporation is a testament to his deep understanding of the nuances of leadership, a skill he has honed both in theory and practice.

Mike’s approach to life and career is unique; he prefers the concept of ‘repotting’ over retiring. This mindset led him to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. His decision to embrace this new chapter demonstrates his dedication to personal growth and his desire to contribute meaningfully to others’ lives.

As an author, Mike has encapsulated his rich experiences and insights in works like The Antics, The No-Øs of Leadership, and his latest book, Becoming a Leader Worth Following. These publications offer valuable guidance and inspiration to those navigating personal and professional challenges. His writing is not just instructive but also a reflection of his journey, blending leadership lessons with mental health expertise to provide a holistic approach to personal development.

In Wyoming, Mike has held multiple pivotal leadership roles. He served both as the Chairperson of the Wyoming Infrastructure Authority and as a member of the Wyoming Business Council Board. These roles reflect his unwavering commitment to community development and leadership.

As a counselor, despite being relatively new to the profession, Mike brings a wealth of life experience, including lessons from the “school of hard knocks.” His approach is characterized by unconditional positive regard, empathy, and genuineness. He is dedicated to assisting clients in exploring, creating, and living their best possible lives, combining his extensive leadership experience with newfound mental health expertise to guide others on their unique journeys.
